About Me

The Out There Mom

Me at “Mom Prom” in 2013.

Hi, y’all! I’m Amanda. If you’ve stumbled upon my blog, then I know you’re probably interested in one of the several topics I write about. I started blogging because I had a lot I wanted to say and it was too long for a facebook post. 🙂 I wanted other people like me to find me and what I’ve written so they know they are not alone. Whether it’s people new to homeschooling, or people wondering if all of the weird stuff they think about is real, I want everyone who shows up here to know I’m right here with ya!

Family Business
Totally staged pic. We never sat at the conference table with our feet up. Silliness!

Having said that, you should know that I’m also a serial entrepreneur. That means I’ll probably be reading up on how other bloggers make money from their blogs and implement some of that kind of thing here as well. My entrepreneurial journey started waaaay back in 1997 when I talked my older brother into starting a web design company. Then we got our little brother on board too and we ran a company called Vulcan Creative Labs for about 8 years.

The year we hit a quarter of a million dollars in sales I was amazed. I mean, we started a business with zerola business experience. Nada. We went from working out of our houses, to having a bonafide office with actual employees! We even survived the recession after 9/11 when lots of well established businesses were folding.

But, eventually, we all decided to move onto something different. Nowadays you can find me over at Time Travel Hypnosis. If you check out that “About” page, you’ll see how I arrived at that particular career choice. It’s been a journey!

The Fam

My whole life I’ve known I wanted to have kids. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. Finally I gave up and decided to be a crazy cat lady. I bought a little house for myself (with only one bathroom, mind you). Then, of course, I met my husband and had three kids. Five people, one bathroom. It’s a challenge, but I wouldn’t trade any of it for anything!

Family pic from 2013. Wow. We need a new one.

Out There

One day, as I was slogging through the drudgery of doing dishes, I started wondering to myself “Haven’t we all done this before”? I mean, I believe in reincarnation and that we’re here to learn things each time. But… aren’t we done yet? Seriously. Haven’t we all done this again, and again, and again? Same old lessons over and over. Surely we’ve already experienced all there is to experience here, right? I said to myself (and whatever “powers that be” there are) “I want something new. I want, like… a big purple blob to fall out of the sky and land in front of me just so I can go ‘ooooh…. what’s that?!'” If I were a normal person I probably would have just taken up painting or something.

I guess it was about that time that a slew of new topics started arriving en mass.  The Event, Ascension, life between lives, aliens, I could go on and on. And the thing is, I’m finding more and more everyday people who are also exploring these things. Let’s all explore together! I’m watching YouTube videos, I’m reading blogs. You’re reading my blog. We’re all learning new stuff.  I love that. I want you to know you’ve got a tribe member in me.

Everyday

soul mates
Me and my awesome husband.

We all have “stuff” we have to do everyday. One of my things is homeschooling my kiddos. I didn’t think I would ever want to do that. You can read my post “Why I Decided To Homeschool” here. Aside from homeschooling, there are a million everyday things I do (and you do too). So, I write about those things as well.

There’s a little something for everyone here, I guess. From the everyday to the way out there. I’ll be right here. Feel free to hang out with me if ya want. We’re part of the same tribe, after all.
